Riding Tips
At the start of each RAT run there will be a short briefing detailing the route. Maps will be given out in the event that they are needed.
At each run there will be a leader and a tail rider.
- Ride Your Own Ride: just because we are riding as a group doesn’t mean you have to stick with the group in a line.
- If you find you're not comfortable with the pace of the riders immediately around you, wait for a safe opportunity to either overtake or wave the following rider(s) past. Remember, these runs really are for YOUR enjoyment, so don't feel you need to ride to someone else's pace. You will never be far in front of or behind the group.
- There are regular stops to regroup and everyone needs to have an enjoyable run
- At main junctions, wait for the rider behind you to see that you have turned off, then continue on the route. The rider behind you doing the same for the one behind them and so on.
- On dual carriageways, try to ride in a zig zag formation, taking us less space on the road whilst maintaining optimum safety and visibility
- The leader will continually assess the group and adjust the pace of the run if required
- Don’t fixate on the motorcycle in front of you, remember to ride for yourself and not get target fixated
- Everyone is here to have a good run
- If the group is particularly large, above 10 motorcycles, consideration will be given to splitting into separate smaller groups
